Islamic Guidelines & Safety

Halal Harmony is not a fatwa service and does not replace consulting scholars or students of knowledge. However, every feature on this platform is built to uphold widely accepted Islamic guidelines for modest, halal interaction in the context of seeking marriage.

“Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and guard their private parts. That is purer for them.”

— Qur'an 24:30

01

Opposite-Gender Interactions

All interactions on Halal Harmony are limited to opposite-gender, marriage-focused communication only. The platform enforces this at the search and messaging level. There is no casual chatting or “getting to know people for fun.”

02

Communication Etiquette

Conversations should be respectful, purposeful, and focused on assessing compatibility for marriage. Avoid flirtatious language, inappropriate compliments, or any speech that would not be permissible in the presence of a mahram. Keep it dignified.

03

Wali (Guardian) Involvement

Islamic guidelines require a female to have her Wali (guardian) involved in the marriage process. On Halal Harmony, we store Wali contact information privately and remind sisters to involve their guardian throughout their journey on the platform.

This is an Amanah (trust): the platform does not verify Wali involvement directly, but it is an Islamic obligation that each user is personally responsible for fulfilling. We strongly encourage it and provide reminders throughout the messaging experience.

04

Photo Modesty

Profile photos must adhere to modesty standards. All uploaded photos are reviewed by our moderation team before being made visible. Photos that do not meet Islamic modesty guidelines will be rejected. New uploads are blurred by default until approved.

05

No Sharing of Contact Details

Sharing phone numbers, email addresses, WhatsApp, or social media handles in profiles or early messages is not permitted. The platform uses automated pattern detection to identify and flag such content.

After a period of genuine, respectful communication and once both parties are comfortable (with the sister's Wali involved), users are free to take their conversations off-platform and proceed with the marriage process according to the Quran and Sunnah.

06

Prohibited Content & Behaviour

The following are strictly prohibited and will result in warnings, suspension, or permanent banning:

  • Harassment, intimidation, or abusive language
  • Sexually explicit or suggestive content
  • Fraudulent profiles or misrepresentation
  • Spam, solicitation, or commercial advertising

How We Moderate

Halal Harmony uses a multi-layered approach to ensure that interactions on the platform remain within Islamic boundaries:

Automated Pattern Recognition

Messages are scanned in real-time using pattern recognition to detect profanity, inappropriate content, contact detail sharing, and other violations. Flagged messages are held for review before being delivered. In the future, AI-based contextual analysis will further strengthen this layer.

Human Moderators

Flagged messages and reported profiles are reviewed by human moderators. To maintain modesty and respect privacy, female moderators review messages from female users, and male moderators review messages from male users. Moderators can approve, reject, issue warnings, or escalate to suspension or banning based on the severity of the violation.

Community Reporting

Users can report profiles or conversations that violate Islamic guidelines. Reports are reviewed promptly by the moderation team, and appropriate action is taken based on the platform's policies and Islamic guidelines on gender interactions.

Always consult knowledgeable scholars or students of knowledge for detailed rulings, and involve trusted family members in your process. May Allah bless your search and grant you a righteous spouse.
